Introduction

This page has links and guides on how we can create and host a Flood Forum dashboard and map for you or how you can build a Flood Forum website yourself.

Donations and Credits

If we create and host for you, we ask for a credit on your website (that might be Town Council, Parish or Flood Forum website) and for a charitable donation to the Pang Valley Flood Forum (which is a charity - Registered Charity Number 1176292).

We can discuss the amount of the donation.

If we create and host

We can create and host a standard dashboard and map for you. If you would like to discuss us doing that for you, please contact us via Email: pangvalleyfloodforum@gmail.com

Dashboard

The dashboard has most of the functionality of our dashboard, but doesn't have the ability to 'go back in time'. It pulls data directly from the Environment Agency and displays:

  • The latest Flood Forecasting Centre flood guidance statement if there has been one issued covering your county
  • Current flood alerts or warnings for a defined set of flood alert and warning areas
  • Current river or groundwater levels as speed dials
  • River levels and rain over the last 5 days
  • River levels and rain over the last 5 months
  • Groundwater over the last 3 years
  • Comparison by month of rainfall over the last 2 years

All of the hosted dashboards run from the same code base and thus all evolve together. We configure:

  • Which flood alert / warning areas to show
  • Which rain, groundwater, river gauges to show
  • The title, font and colouring of the dashboard (to align with your other website)
  • Which catchments to outline on the map

Dashboard Examples

Marlborough Flood Info for Marlborough Town Council and ARK
Thames: Dorchester to Purley for Purley on Thames Parish Council

Map

The map is exactly the same as our National Flood Map, but it opens centred and zoomed to your area and it outlines the catchments for your area in red. It has no map layers that are specific to your area, but it does have all of the map layers and functionality of our National Flood Map.

As we add more functionality or map layers to our National Flood Map, so those are automatically added to the hosted map.

If you want to create and host your own website

If you want to create and host your own Flood Forum website, we have created a Guide on "How to create a Flood Forum website" that explains different options for a website, ranging in sophistication and complexity.
